Safeguarding Statement
Last updated 2026-04-23
SAL Healthcare is committed to protecting the adults in our care from abuse, neglect, and harm of any kind. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we treat every concern raised with us seriously.
Who to contact
If you have an immediate safeguarding concern about an adult at risk, contact one of the following.
- In an emergency, call 999.
- BCP Council Adult Social Care: 0300 123 9895 (covers Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole).
- Dorset Council Adult Social Care: 01305 221016 (covers Wimborne, Ferndown, Verwood, and most of the rest of Dorset).
- Care Quality Commission (CQC): 03000 616161.
- SAL Healthcare: ask for Nathan, our registered manager and designated Safeguarding Lead, on the phone number listed on our contact page.
You do not need to be the person at risk to raise a concern. If you are a family member, neighbour, friend, or professional, you can call us or any of the numbers above directly.
Our commitments
- All carers have an enhanced DBS check completed before they start visiting clients.
- Every carer completes safeguarding training within 4 weeks of starting, and refreshes that training annually.
- We have a designated Safeguarding Lead (Nathan) who is the named contact for any concern.
- We follow the Care Act 2014, the BCP and Dorset Safeguarding Adults Board procedures, and the CQC fundamental standards.
- We work openly with Local Authority safeguarding teams, the Police, and CQC where investigations are required.
- We never penalise a carer, family member, or client for raising a concern in good faith.
What happens when you raise a concern with us
A concern raised with us is logged the same day, escalated to the Safeguarding Lead within 24 hours, and acted on immediately if there is risk of imminent harm. We notify the relevant Local Authority and CQC where required by law. We keep the person who raised the concern informed of the outcome, within the limits of confidentiality.
If we ever fall short, we want to know. The fastest way to fix a problem is to be told about it.
