Personal Care

Personal care is the backbone of what we do. It is washing, dressing, continence support, mobility help, and the small daily acts that allow someone to stay in their own home with dignity.

We do it slowly. We do it the way the person likes it done. We do not rush, and we do not change the carer every visit. The relationship between client and carer is the work, not a side effect of it.

Most clients start with one or two visits a day. Some build up to four. A few move to live-in care over time. The pace is set by the person, not by us.

What’s included

  • Help with washing, bathing, and showering
  • Dressing and grooming, hair and shaving
  • Oral care, denture care, and skin care with sensitive products as needed
  • Continence support, including catheter and stoma care where staff are trained
  • Help moving safely around the home, transfers in and out of bed
  • Discreet, considered support that follows your routine, not ours
  • Pressure area checks for clients at risk of skin breakdown

How it works

We start with a free consultation, usually in your home. We listen, we ask questions, and we put a plan together that suits the person, not a template. Once agreed, we match you with a small care team (usually two or three carers) and we keep that team consistent. The first week is hands-on, with the registered manager checking in to make sure the match is right. After that, reviews happen every six months as standard, sooner if anything changes.

Common questions

Things families ask us most.

Will it be the same carer every visit? +

Yes, as far as humanly possible. We assign a small team of two or three carers to each client and keep that team consistent. If someone is on holiday or off sick, you will already know whoever steps in.

What if my parent refuses help with washing on a particular day? +

We never force anything. The carer will offer, listen, and adapt. Sometimes it is a top-and-tail wash that day, sometimes it is just helping them dress and we try again tomorrow. Choice and dignity sit above the task list.

Are your carers trained for catheter, stoma, or continence care? +

Yes. Every carer completes continence and personal care training during induction. For catheter, stoma, or PEG care we add specific competency sign-offs before that carer is matched to a client who needs it.
